How would you like to be sent to a school on top of a mountain? Well Alex Rider the main character in Point Blank gets to attend this school. The school is for troubled children age 14 – 15 and it’s for the very rich. Alex Rider works for M16 which is British secret service. He is sent there because two of the fifteen fathers have been killed. But his boss doesn’t believe in coincidence so he is investigating. He makes some horrible decisions and has to fight to stay alive. Whatever you are doing it is better to do what is right than what is wrong.
This book reminds about another book called Silver Fin because Alex Rider makes me think of a young James Bond and that’s who the main character is. Except Alex didn’t choose to be in the M16 he was forced so he just wants to stay alive. Making the right decision though is easier said than done. I think he almost always makes the right decisions because nobody is perfect. In the book he saved 15 kids while being shot at and chased. He ended up getting shot twice but he made the right decision.
On the other hand he also made bad decisions and he paid the price. He tried operating a giant crane to bust drug dealers by putting their work station if front of the police station. But it landed on another building and destroyed it completely. Since he did that he went to point blank because it was either that or jail. So clearly he would go to pointblank rather than jail.
Making the right decision can lead to rewards. After he was shot at by some friends he still did the right thing and saved one of their lives the next day. He didn’t get hit but that doesn’t mean he was going to save one of them. He did grabbed one of them out of the way of a moving train even after what they did. But he made the right decision and because of that she respected him which meant a lot to him.
All in all, choosing the right choice is a lot better than the wrong choice. That is easier said than done though. So think before you act or you could face some harsh consequences and you will have to do them.
