A Happy Life

In the book The Juvie Three gecko the main character changes his life by meeting one man. His future could either turn bad again or stay good. But I think that gecko has a bright future ahead of him and these are my reasons why.

Gecko will have an amazing future because he has seen the bad side of life and he does not like it. He has a good side in him that could be brought out to help others. He likes helping others and he will because he has lost friends because they got involved in gangs and killed. He also lost the closest person to him which was his brother. That is the reason why he wants to do this because he doesn’t want it to happen to someone else’s brother. Helping other people is important to him.                                                                                                

  He will most likely set up a program to help kids in juvenile detention to get out and stay out of trouble by doing community service. He would do that because that is what people did for him. He wants to help him and he feels like he needs to repay everyone that he hurt. He likes being the person that everyone looks up to.

He relates to Cole from touching spirit bear because they both have been in some horrible situations and don’t like it. Also thy both are actually smart kids who want to be good but there is just one obstacle they can get past. For Cole it is his parents but for Gecko it is his brother he feels like he has lost him but overcomes it.

All in all, change can be for the better or for worse depending on if you really want to or not. But Gecko will make it for the better.  He has a great life ahead of him but he has to take it.

A Life changing experience

Authors note: I wrote about this because I feel like everyone can be a good person.

Doing eighty miles per hour in the middle of a city trying to get away from a crime scene. That is where Gecko a fourteen year old boy finds himself on one afternoon. He is the getaway driver for his brother because they robbed a video game store. Changing from a criminal to a great citizen like Gecko did is nothing easy but very possible.

Throughout the story Gecko changes his view on everything. Gecko starts out as someone who doesn’t care about people or school. He actually has an interest in school now and does all of his home work. He respects people and even helps out an elderly neighbor. He wants to make a difference in a good way.  He finds ways to stay out of trouble even though it seems like trouble finds him. Trouble also finds another book character named Cole.

Gecko relates to Cole from Touching Spirit Bear in multiple ways. They both starts out as a criminal that looks hopeless in changing their  ways. But both had  life threatening accidents that changed them in a better way. A car crash for Gecko. For Cole it was getting mauled by a bear. Also the are related because they just wanted to feel loved by their families. Neither of their parents had time for them.  I think change can happen over a long time or a life threatening accident and it will cause you to change quickly.

All in all, these characters show us that change is possible no matter how bad it may be. People can change for either the good or the bad but it depends on what path they want to take. Although you don’t need to be almost killed to change.

Retelling

Authors Note: I wrote about this book because I enjoy this series of books.

A family with a long violent past, split into five groups. While Amy and Dan try to bring everyone together a mysterious prize for a clue hunt could split them farther apart. The family must learn, if they want true power they must all work together.  

Conflict Resolution

Author’s Note: I wrote this because it has a clear conflict and resolution

In the book Gender Blender by: Blake Nelson the main characters Tom and Emma get into a funny situation. The conflict is that Tom and Emma are in an accident together and when they wake up their minds are in each others bodies. They have to live someone else’s life. Later they find that if they stay in the wrong bodies for more than three days it will become permanent.

On the third day they still haven’t found a way to go back to normal. They are at a party and feel hopeless and might not ever get back their bodies. This gets resolved when they knock into each other at the party they go unconscious and wake back up in the right bodies! Tom and Emma can now live normal lives and be themselves.

White Fang Cause and effect

Author’s Note: I wrote this piece on this book because White Fang is an outcast and it’s sad to see outcasts in the world.

In the book “White Fang” by Jack London the main character, White Fang was going through some problems in this book. He was abandon when he was just a little half wolf half dog puppy. White Fang went to go find a new home but that didn’t work out the way he hoped. While hunting a rabbit he finds a tribe of native Americans. The young pup attempts to run away but he can’t help his curiosity to try to find a new family. This causes the him to not be accepted by the other dogs. This effected his life because he just wanted to have a family and be loved. This relates to Touching Spirit bear because I think that’s how Cole felt. He needed someone to really care for him and be there for him.

If everyone in White Fang’s life that hurt him or made fun of him he wouldn’t be as furious, strong and smart as he could. The book made the Native Americans look like bad people but what they really did is turn him into a great wolf. His family wasn’t there to teach him the native Americans were the ones to do that. 

The Beginning Of A Country

Authors Note: I wrote about this because I want to ask the founding fathers questions.

If I were to ask the founding father some questions on what choices they made long ago. I would ask about if they are happy with the choices they made or what they would change. Another would be what was were thinking behind their choices. There are a lot of them and also important ones.

The first question I would want to ask the founding father is, why did they pick the eagle to be the national bird? Why didn’t they pick the turkey, the duck, or the robin? You see Robins everywhere you go, in people’s trees and on farms all over the U.S. The turkey is one of the things that I see a lot in the morning on the way to school. I have seen many turkeys all year round. Lastly, the duck is a common bird too; I see ducks on the way to the store in small bodies of water all the time. Have you ever seen an eagle in person not at the zoo? I know I have not but I hope I will one day.

Onto the second question. I would ask them if they are happy or sad about what choices they had to make about this Nation. I would be happy because, we have the freedom of speech in this country and many other rights that they created. Also I know that I am safe because of all the protection that we have in this country. I also want to thank them for the bill of rights. They are the first ten amendments to the U.S constitution.

These are a few questions that I would like to ask the founding fathers. They made a lot of good choices a long time ago. They made them in the best interest of all the people of this Nation.  Most of their choices, they made a long time ago, are still being followed today.  

Hunger Games

Authors Note: I wrote about this because I enjoy this book.

In the book Hunger Games, Katniss makes a choice that affected her and changed her life forever. She was chosen to participate in a fight to the death with twenty three other people. They tricked her into believing that two participants from the same district can both win. So Katniss wants to leave with the other tribute from district twelve because he means a lot to her.  Katniss and Peeta the boy from her district are the last ones alive but they announce that there can only be one winner.

Katniss was furious which caused her to have peetta and her both swallow poisonous berries so they could both live. But this affected the outcome of the hunger games because they let them both live. This changed the course of the future dramatically because it started an uprising in the districts. They wanted to take control of the capitol. This one decision made lots of innocent people to lose their lives because of a war.

Fail Marry

authors note: I hate when the packers lose because they are my favorite team.

The Packers were affected by a call a few weeks ago. The replacement referees had no idea what they were doing. They made the wrong call and completely changed the outcome of the game. The commissioner of the NFL also knew that it was wrong and publicly addressed it. Since this event, the original officials have come back to provide fair and decent ruling.

The Packer lost to the Seahawks. This was the effect of a terrible call by one of the replacement officials. The Seahawks needed a touchdown to win and there was only seconds left. On the last play Russell Wilson the quarterback for the Seahawks threw a pass deep into the end zone. The pass was then intercepted by a Packer and the officials decided that it was a touchdown.

Given the information it is very simple to understand that the Packers were affected by the replacement referees; in a negative way I might add. To make things even more irrational, one of the refs that was standing near the play signaled an interception while the other signaled a touchdown! To summarize the whole event, the Packers lost a game because of a false call made by an inexperienced  official.

conflict of Mocking Jay

Authors Note: I wrote about the conflict of Mocking Jay because I enjoy reading this book.

Mocking Jay is about a girl named Katniss. She  is fighting against the capitol who rules all the surrounding cities known as districts. She is one of the leaders of the rebel group. They have only two towns left to take over to win the war. But they are the two strongest points the capitol has.

The conflict is somewhat resolved by the rebel group taking control of last remaining towns the capitol has control of. They do this after weeks of fighting The war is officially over when the president is killed. But part of the conflict is not resolved because Katniss was only  looking for peace but never found it.

So close, Yet so far

Authors Note: I wrote about this event because it is very important to me.

Have you ever been so close to something and then someone took it away from you? That happened to our team against our biggest rival Eisenhower in the state basketball  tournament. It annoys me because we should have beat them.  It is maybe my worst memory in a sport. 

Up by 11 with three minute left we thought the game was ours. Everyone wanted to win this game but we let up and back they came. Slowly chipping away at our lead. Eventually it was tied with thirty seconds left in the game.  Our ball we waste the clock down to 15 seconds. We get the shot we were looking for, a wide open elbow jumper.  The crowd on their feet as the ball rolls around the rim and rolls out.  Eisenhower comes down the court our defense gives up no ground so they throw up a three as time expires but not close so we are going to overtime.

They add two minutes to the clock and the referee throws the ball up for the jump I tip it back. Our ball to start we come down and I get the ball on the block. Ball fake up he jumps easy layup. Up two now here they come they throw a long cross court pass we tip it and it goes out of bounds. On their inbound they get a man open for a long shot but his foot was on three point line so its tied at two. A minute left our ball, we run the clock down to ten. As he starts he travels so Eisenhower ball with nine seconds left. As they set up their play the get an open player for a shot with five seconds left hits the rim rolls out. But they get the rebound and put it up and in as time expires Eisenhower 42 Pewaukee 40.

All in all, you can’t always get what you want but I think we deserved that win. But half our team lost focus for too long and we just could not hold on. It is a good lesson though because you need to learn to give 100 percent effort all the time to accomplish great things.

Among the hidden

Authors Note: I wrote about this book because i'm currently reading it.

Among the hidden is about a third child named Luke who is illegal and can not be seen by any one but his family. All third children are illegal because of the population law. But one day he sees another third child in a window of a house. He then sneaks over to her house and it changes his life forever.

Basketball

Authors note: I wrote about this because it means a lot to me.

The day I could touch rim on a ten foot hoop I felt relieved because I was always so close but could never touch it. My goal was to be able to touch it before seventh grade was over and it feels good accomplishing goals. Even though Lebron could a full size ball in seventh grade I still feel as if its a big step forward for me because Lebron is one of the best players in the NBA. Everybody can set goals but the people that have success met their goals.

Math Class

Authors note: I wrote about this because some people think differently on the situation.

I like regular class better than Aleks because that way they teach it to you first. Also I learn a lot faster when someone tells me instead of reading it.I do think it's more convenient than handing out work sheets everyday. It also saves the environment and will help future generations. All in all, I think a regular class is much better than Aleks.

Mockingjay

Authors note: I chose to write about this because I really like my book.
My book is about a girl whose life changes because of one event the hunger games. She barely gets out alive and then she has to go back. She doesn’t even get a choice. They treat her as if she is an animal. I would hate that feeling knowing what you say doesn’t even matter. So always value others opinions.

A country I would travel to

 Authors note: I wrote about this because I like Italy

I would like to travel to Italy because it has the best food on earth. Also Italian food is my favorite kind of food. Pizza is better than a thanksgiving dinner. Also Italy is a big producer of sports cars. Who doesn’t like a cool car?

favorite restaurant

My favorite restaurant is subway because it doesn’t take that long and is delicious. It also doesn’t make you fat. You can also change up what you put on your sandwich like different sauces and toppings. Subway tastes better than a thanksgiving dinner. You can even change how large your sub is. I think Subway is one of the best fast food restaurants around.

Dinosaurs

Authors note: I wrote about dinosaurs because the were extremely interesting.

Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago. They are one of the oldest animals that I know of. The way they lived was simple the bigger ones ate the smaller ones. The T-rex is my favorite dinosaur because it was so big it could eat other dinosaurs whole. it was also the biggest predator so they ate every dinosaur with ease. The amount of species were amazingly high and very exotic.

Seventh Grade Memories

Authors Note: I wrote about this story becasue we are also in seventh grade like the boy in the story.

Seventh Grade, by Gary Soto, is about a boy starting a new year in middle school and is trying to get the girl he has a crush on by pretending to be something he's not. Your peers will either laugh with you or at you, which is either a bad situation or a good one.  He got embarrassed in front of the whole class but it worked out in the end when the girl asked him to help her study after school, but what I believe the author was trying to say was that you shouldn't try to be something you're not.


When you're a boy in school, you want a girlfriend but they might not always have those feelings for you. So you go out of your way to try to be something you're not. You dress different and act different attempting to please the girl you like. It may work or it might fail. Then you just go back to being yourself hoping she'll just realize how cool you actually are. Don't pretend to be something you are not. It will usually get you embarrassed. Your friends might stop talking to you and that could result in you being an outcast.

At school, picking the right friends matters. If you pick the wrong ones, you could end up doing wrong things and going to the wrong places. Again, don't be something you're not. Be yourself and friends will come to you and you'll know if they're the right people to hang out with. Being something you're not will almost always get you into trouble. When you hang out with the wrong people, and do wrong things, teachers will notice you and you never want to be on a teacher’s bad side.

Teachers watch you more than you think. They figure you out and they know when you're lying, trying to be funny, even when you're faking. As in trying to be something you're not. On the other hand, if you just be yourself, I'm betting that the teacher will end up liking you and you'll be on his or her's good side.

The lesson of the story is that no matter what, whether it comes to girls or friends, always be yourself. Pretending to be something you aren't will only end up giving you bad results. A girl won't like a faker and you won't have friends if you become something you're not. Always be yourself and don't change.

Smart Alec Ice Cream

Authors note: I chose to write about this becasue there are people that are like this.

In the book, “Smart Ice Cream” the theme was very obvious. But I thought it was a great way to make a point. Well what happened to the main character was he snuck into an ice cream truck and ate all of the smart ice cream but it really said smart alec ice cream. Always think before you act and mistakes wont be as severe.

The theme was it doesn’t matter how smart you are you will still make mistakes. I think that because in the entire book he was bragging so much because he was getting 100% on all of his tests. Also you need to think your ideas through before you act them out. One example of this was the main character got on the ice cream vender’s bad side and did

nasty things to him so the vendor treated him poorly.

Lastly you always need to pay attention to what you are getting yourself into. For example when he broke into the truck and saw the smart ice cream he thought it just meant smart when it really meant smart alec ice cream. So because of some bad choices he changed his life forever in a worse way

All in all, be careful or something will change your life. was it doesn’t matter how smart you are you will still make mistakes. Also you need to think your ideas through before you act them out.  Lastly you always need to pay attention to what you are getting yourself into.

           

Be Extreme

Authors Note: I chose this book because I sometimes like to be extreme.

Imagine experiencing amazing, speed, strength, and experience no pain but not understand why. All of these things happen in the book “Go big or Go Home” by Will Hobbs. One day can change your life forever for the better or the worse. Always do what is right even though there may be consequences. The theme of this story is to be careful even though it might be boring

Extreme, is what the main characters Brady and Quinn live for. Things can always be messed up very easily. When a meteorite falls in Brady’s house and is carrying some life forms things could get out of hand. Especially when a few mistakes of what you are doing could end your life, Such as exploring caves and lake fishing in a floatable raft.

With a crazy turn of events Brady gets the bacteria on the meteorite in his system which makes him faster, stronger, and tougher. But it starts a fight within his system and his body is losing. Since the germs were dormant which means they need a substance to activate them and deactivate. If they don’t find out it what deactivates the bacteria Brady might die.

Stay careful even though you may not want to be.  The author uses an object to put these kids back in reality even though it was from out of this world.

Kobe Bryant

Ko Ko Kobe in da game dunkin on “The Whole Team”( he will put in all the work to win)

ra rap monster,crossover good,or turnaround jumper,( he will beat you off the dribble or shoot in your face)

Or just drive da lane,and dunk on dunkers,( he can go in and dunk on the seven footers)

There is nothing that he can’t do. He will do whatever it takes to win he is the most complete basketball player in the game today. He shoots well he plays good defense and can go to the hoop. He goes for his forth ring like it was his first.

A New Dunk





Authors Note: I choose this picture because I like basketball and this is amazing.



How many people can do this? This might be the only person in the world that can do this. Jump over the hood of the car catch a ball and dunk it on a ten foot hoop. That is amazingly crazy.  This takes lots of practicing because there is no way he succeeded this dunk on his first try.

Stay Focused

Authors note: I wrote about this quote because it can help everyone.

Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.

 

This quote means you have to be disciplined so you can reach your goals. You have to be discipline to be successful. So by reaching your goals you are accomplishing what needs to be accomplished.  You have to work hard to accomplish anything in life. Nothing is going to be handed to you on a silver platter.            

The life changing present

Authors note: I chose this topic because I love christmas and basketball.

Why do we have to be kept in a box? It is uncomfortable and hurts.  Always the long travels in the dark. We just get thrown around like nobody cares. But today someone just bought me.  I hope they are nice.

This wrapping paper is way too tight I can hardly breathe. Does it matter that I’m wrapped or not. Nobody ever cares about what I want. I hope I get to be used in short time I’m getting cramps. My life is so painful. Why does it have to be winter no one plays basketball in winter?

Finally someone is taking off the wrapping paper. Oh great it is a kid. This can’t be good at all. At least he is dribbling me it gets some of the cramps out. Well what do you know we are going to a gym I can’t believe it. Out of the cold finally and into the gym it’s so exciting.   

The floor is so nice I am so happy that I was bought. This really was a life changing experience for me. It is everything I could have asked for and more. When things get tough you have to tough them out.
